چکیده
This research was conducted to analyze the analgesic effects of bupivacaine, ketamine and bupivacaine–ketamine combination on bitches undergoing ovariohysterectomy, determine a suitable regional anaesthesia. Fifteen (15) apparently healthy bitches, aged 8-12 months weighing 10 – 15kg were procured within around Zaria, Kaduna State for this experiment. The animals grouped into three (3), A, B C, screened allowed acclimatize new environment. Premedication instituted with 0.02 mg/kg atropine sulphate 1mg/kg Xylazine. Group A administered an epidural injection 0.5 % bupivacaine hydrochloride at 1 mg/kg, 50 mg/ml 2 C 0.5mg/kg respectively. Analgesic indices determined time sphincter relaxation, onset action, duration analgesia muscle relaxation. standard ovariohysterectomy procedure carried out each experimental animal, lasting average 45 minutes. Bitches in group took longer (73 ± 18.0 secs) relaxation which significantly different from other groups. Ketamine shortest amount (15 3.0 almost immediate. (3 1.0 mins) only. produced (121 7.0 significant (110 20.0 mins). superior than those or alone used injection, sufficient painful surgeries such as dogs.

متن کامل[Preemptive analgesia with epidural bupivacaine and S(+)ketamine in abdominal hysterectomy.].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES This study investigates the ability of epidural S(+)ketamine, NMDA receptor antagonist, plus local anesthetic (bupivacaine) injection to promote preemptive analgesia in patients undergoing total abdominal hysterectomy, when this solution is administered before surgical incision. METHODS Participated in this prospective double-blind study 30 patients were randomly ass...
متن کاملComparative study of hyperbaric bupivacaine plus ketamine vs bupivacaine plus fentanyl for spinal anaesthesia during caeserean section.
BACKGROUND Spinal anesthesia is widely used for caesarean section due to its rapid onset, low failure rate, complete analgesia. Addition of intrathecal ketamine and opioids to local anaesthetics seems to improve the quality of block and prolong the duration of analgesia. OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of intrathecal ketamine mixed with hyperbaric bupivacaine to...
متن کاملComparison of ketamine, fentanyl and clonidine as an adjuvant during bupivacaine caudal anaesthesia in paediatric patients.
BACKGROUND Caudal epidural analgesia with bupivacaine is very popular in paediatric anaesthesia for providing intra- and postoperative analgesia. Several adjuvants have been used to prolong the action of bupivacaine. OBJECTIVES To compare the efficacy of ketamine, fentanyl and clonidine in terms of quality and duration of analgesia they produce when added with caudal bupivacaine by single sho...
